Antonio Giménez Merino was born in 1966 in Barcelona. He began his professional career in the area of Philosophy of Law at the University of Barcelona in 1990, where is Professor since 2003.
An important part of his research career has been devoted to the interpretation and dissemination of ideas of P.P. Pasolini. A second line of work has to do with social and legal changes raised by the Third Industrial Revolution, especially in the areas of human rights, mass communication, privacy and 3rd and 4th generation of rights. A third focus of attention, which continues till nowadays, have been Gender studies, both in its theoretical and theoretical-practical aspects (coordination of the legal clinic Gender and Equality Law in the Project Dret al dret-UB). This last experience has allowed him to develop innovative approaches in the field of teaching methodology and connect with the objectives of the ongoing reforms of higher education and establish a partnership with the Graduate School of UFMG (Brazil).
Relating to the current crisis, we should list some of his studies for the European Commission on interregional imbalances within the EU, under the Interreg IIIC-South program. Also he's developing a research line that engage the hypothesis of exceptionality as a new normality, starting the identification of new forms of own legal regulation of the global governance, its expression on the mutation of the idea of sovereignty, and its relation to the current economic crisis.
The Professor Gimenez is editor of the social science's journals Mientras Tanto and Oxímora and external reviewer of several Spanish and foreign journals.
