PhD in Geology (1990) and Associate Professor of the Department of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology of the Faculty of Earth Sciences of the University of Barcelona (1992).
His research has been developed in the field of crystallographic and thermodynamic characterization of the polymorphism and isomorphism of various families of organic materials (benzene derivatives, alkanes, alcohols, carboxylic acids and dicarboxylic acids) and inorganic (alkali nitrates), all with applications in the field of storage of thermal energy by latent heat. In recent years, this activity has focused on the crystallographic characterization of food products; specifically in the study of solid state polymorphism and miscibility of fats and oils, from the components (triacylglycerol) to the final product (chocolate, vegetable oils, Iberian ham), with the aim of improving the textural characteristics, extending life useful or detection of food fraud. This line of work is developed in collaboration with national and international research groups. At the same time, she collaborates with other research groups of the University of Barcelona and Autònoma de Barcelona in the resolution of structures based on single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. His fundamental research work is reflected by scientific publications (approximately 179) and communications in congresses (approximately 185). This research has been carried out through research projects and contracts with companies from the different sectors involved, participating in them as a researcher. From 2005, she assumes the role of principal investigator in various funded projects (5) and coordinator of the Molecular Alloys group at the University of Barcelona; she is coordinator of the Consolidated Group of Crystallography of the Faculty of Earth Sciences of the UB from 2014. This research activity is combined with training activities; she has supervised six Doctoral Theses and participated and continues to do teaching on the Bachelor and Degree in Geology and Chemistry, as well as in various Masters of the University of Barcelona and the Menéndez-Pelayo University. She has co-authored two books, one on Crystallography and the other on Thermodynamics. In addition, she participates in outreach activities holding workshops and seminars for the public, and in the organization of the seven editions of Crystallization Competition in the School, being the current coordinator, and in which students from secondary schools of all Catalonia participate.
