Thomas Aiglsperger obtained a PhD in 2015 from the University of Barcelona (UB), Spain, for his work on the geochemistry and mineralogy of platinum group elements (PGE), rare earth elements (REE) and scandium in Ni laterites. During his PhD he set up a HS-11 hydroseparation laboratory (www.hslab-barcelona.com) making discoveries of minute amounts of small scaled heavy minerals in challenging rock types and soils possible. His research aims to understand enrichment processes observed in highly altered supergene ore deposits (e.g. Ni-laterites; bauxites) including innovative approaches such as the biological cycling of target metals.

Due to his position as the technical responsible of the HS-11 laboratory, he also forms part in various other projects including geochronology and green field exploration.
