Lecturer Professor
Holds a PhD in computer science from Autonomous University of Barcelona (Cum laude). He has worked in various prestigious European research centers such as CERN in Geneva, Department Engineering and Communication Information, Autonomous University Barcelona (UAB) and La Sapienza University in Rome. He is currently a professor that researchers on opportunistic networks and lecturers on distributed systems at the Departament Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Barcelona.
Carlos Borrego has an extensive experience in computer networks architecture research and its social applications. In his former department at UAB he has been involved in six research projects applied to this topic within the MICINN and MINECO TIN Spanish government calls since 1997. Also several technology transfer projects within the framework of MICINN projects in collaboration with different industry partners. Based on a thesis implemented in his department, the Scytl Secure Electronic Voting spin-off was created, currently an international leader in the electronic voting sector.
He teaches Computer Networks, Cryptography, Computer Network Security and Advanced Internet techniques for Computer scientists. He also lecturers on Standards in e-Health and Interoperability on the Internet of Things for e-Health master degree.
He is currently supervising four PhD students on differents topics such as Opportunistic Networks, Control Network Communications, New Computer Communication Architectures and Sequent Social Dilemmas.
