Té també una vessant professionalitzadora. En l'actualitat està format per PDI de tres facultats (Filologia, Filosofia, i Geografia i Història) però és potencialment ampliable pel que fa als dominis lingüístics i les facultats. Ha tingut de manera continuada projectes finançats de les convocatòries REDICE des del 2008 fins al 2013.
