Bernat Castany Prado has a degree with extraordinary prize in Philosophy (University of Barcelona), a degree with extraordinary prize in Hispanic Philology (University of Barcelona) and a degree in classical music (Conservatory of Barcelona). He has a doctorate in Hispanic Philology from the University of Barcelona, with the thesis 'Scepticism in the works of Jorge Luis Borges', and a PhD in Cultural Studies, from Georgetown University, Washington D.C., with the thesis 'Postnational Literature in Latin America '. He has published the books 'A Philosophy of Fear' (finalist for the 49th Anagram Essay Prize, 2022), 'Illustrated Critical Thought' (Thule, 2022), 'That Nothing Is Known. Skepticism in the Work of Jorge Luis Borges' (Cuadernos de América Sin Nombre, 2012) and 'Postnational Literature' (Editum, 2007). He is co-author of a 'Critical Anthology of Spanish-American Modernist Poetry' (Alianza, 2009) and a pure philological edition of the 'History of the Indians of New Spain of Motolinía' (Royal Academy, 2014). He has published various articles in magazines such as Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Revista Chilena de Literatura, Anales de Literatura Hispanoamericana, Romance notes, Monteagudo, Analecta Malacitana, Revista de filosofia, Iberoamericana, Pasavento y Claves de razón práctica. He is also a regular contributor to publications such as El País, Zenda Libros or Pliego Suelto. He is currently a professor of Hispano-American Literature and Literary Studies at the University of Barcelona.
