PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (2015) with the thesis 'Primary Market for Contemporary Art in Catalonia'.
Her interest as a researcher focuses on the sociological aspects surrounding the commercialisation of contemporary art. In her work she has tackled, from a scientific perspective, the analysis of the professionalisation of the visual artist and market strategies. A phenomenon called the social fabric of the market; as well as the analysis of the intimate long-term relationships between artists, dealers and collectors, which involve interactions of social mechanisms.
In this sense, the scope of her research has taken her beyond these objectives and encompasses the notions of how value is constructed and the position of the emerging artist is consolidated, especially in local institutions. Currently, her interest is focused on analysing the role of trust in the primary segment of the art market.
The range of instruments she uses to collect data is varied and includes (1) Quantitative methods, such as statistical models and multi-level price analysis, the latter being necessary to analyse data on the primary art market, which is more difficult to evaluate due to the limited availability of statistics and the lack of previous studies on the subject; and (2) Qualitative research based on interviews and questionnaires to art galleries and artists.
