I received the B.Sc. degree in Chemistry at the Universitat de Barcelona in 2002. Then I joined the group of Prof. Joaquim Sales, in the Inorganic Chemistry Department, working in the development of QSAR/QSPR methodologies for predicting the properties of inorganic and organic molecules in-silico. During this time, I earned the MSc (2004) and the PhD (2008) degrees. Then I moved to the University of Bristol (UK) to work in an Astra-Zeneca funded project under the direction of Prof. G. Orpen, Prof. G. Lloyd-Jones, Prof. J. Harvey and Dr. N. Fey. In this stay I further developed my skills in statistical modeling and improved my knowledge in computational chemistry. In 2010 I joined the group of Prof. F. Maseras in the Institut Català d'Investigació Química (ICIQ) at Tarragona. At first, I was hired as postdoctoral researcher in the Henkel-ICIQ joint unit, giving computational support in the field of sealant development and homogeneous catalysis. In 2012 I was awarded a Juan de la Cierva fellowship to undertake computational studies in copper and palladium-catalyzed homogeneous fluorination reactions. In late 2013 I moved back to the Universitat de Barcelona where I joined the Electronic Structure group. Since then, I have continued my computational studies in homogeneous catalytic reactions and started working in other fields such as molecular magnetism of transition metal and lanthanide compounds, and the electronic structure of transition metal complexes. In 2015 I was appointed as a part-time postdoctoral researcher in the groups of Prof. N. López and Prof. J. R. Galán-Mascarós (ICIQ) where I studied reactions in Metal Organic Frameworks, solar cell sensitizers and catalytic heterogeneous reactions. In 2019 I was appointed as Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in the Universitat de Barcelona and in late 2023 I was promoted to Aggregate Professor. In 2024, I started the Computational Inorganic Chemistry group at UB, of which I am the principal investigator.
During these years I have coauthored more than 70 scientific publications I have also published three book chapters, one in the Structure and Bonding series, and two one in the Advances in Inorganic Chemistry book series. I have presented the results of my research in more than national and international conferences, and I have participated in more than 10 research projects, two of them funded by chemical/pharmaceutical companies, namely Henkel and Astra Zeneca.
I have taught over 3000 hours in university degrees and masters (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy and Geology). I have supervised six final degree projects (TFG), six Master theses (TFM) and one PhD student.
