B.A. in Geography and History from the University of Barcelona in 1987, Master of Arts in History (1989) and Ph.D. in History (1994) by the University of California at Berkeley of the United States. Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of California at Berkeley (1993), and ESADE (1994). Assistant Professor of the University School of the University of Barcelona (1994-2019) and Full Professor of the University of the University of Barcelona (from 2019). Expert in the history of entrepreneurial families and centuries-old family businesses in Spain and Latin America. Co-editor of the British journal Business History (Taylor and Francis), and founder and co-editor of the journal of the University of Barcelona Journal of Evolutionary Studies in Business. Founder and coordinator of the Network of Interdisciplinary Research in Family Firms. Main researcher of several competitive public and private research projects on innovation, internationalization, and business history. Visiting Scholar at York and Lancaster Universities in the United Kingdom, Universidad del Pacífico and Uniandes in Lima and Bogotá and Kyoto University. He has received several competitive scholarships grants (La Caixa / Indiana University, Fulbright / MEC, Mellon Write-Up Year Dissertation Fellowship), research grants (BBVA Foundation, Family Business Institute), and awards and awards (ICREA Academy between 2008- 2013 and between 2013-2018, Research Award of the Argentine Institute of Family Business in 2016, first Best Paper Competition Award of the European Business History Association in 2009)
