Ana Belén Cano Hila is a Serra-Húnter Lecturer in the Department of Sociology of the University of Barcelona and member of the research group CRIT UB. She holds a PhD in Sociology, University of Barcelona. She has collaborated in the management of regional and national projects of research on social cohesion, culture and participation; social innovation and governance; immigration and education. The most relevant are: ERC TRANSGANG. Transnational Gangs as Agents of Mediation: Experiences of conflict resolution in youth street organizations in Southern Europe, North Africa and the Americas (2018-2020); Children and young's participation: the case study of Child's Council in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona, Spain) (2017-2018); Innovation and Governance: Emerging Practices for changing cities (Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, 2014-2016); Social Cohesion, culture and participation: An action research in the city of Hospitalet de Llobregat (Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, 2014-2016); Economic development and social integration in Europe: Urban policies in comparative perspective (Polytechnic of Milan, 2012).
She has had several grants and recognitions: National Scholarship Research Excellence Ibercaja (Ibercaja, 2008); European Mention Scholarship doctoral degree (Ministry of Education, 2010) and, FJOVE 2010 scholarship for Phd thesis on youth (Catalan Agency for Youth Catalan Government, 2011). And finally, in 2012, she has been the winner of the second prize of the 2012 FURS Competition (Foundation for Urban and Regional Studies), and in 2013, she achieved the first prize to social essay competition Fermín Caballero, organized by Asociación Castellano-Manchega de Sociología.
She has been visiting researcher in University Milano Bicocca, Autonoma University of Barcelona and CICS NOVA- Universidade Nova de Lisboa
