Doctor in Economic and Business Sciences from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and Master in International Relations from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
She is a Senior Lecturer at the UB where she teaches subjects related to economic policy, international energy systems and Political Economy of Energy, and the economies of the Arab world. She has also been an associate professor at the University of Denver (Colorado, USA) and she is an honorary researcher at the School of History at the University of East Anglia (UK). She also teaches several postgraduate and doctorate courses at several Spanish and foreign universities, and is a visiting professor of the Master's Degree in Arab and Contemporary Studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and of the ERASMUS+ Master, GLOCAL at the University of Göttingen.
In the field of university management, she has been coordinator of the Tutorial Action Plan, Academic Secretary and Responsible for international relations at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona and, currently, she is the Rector's Delegate for mobility and international programs at the same university.
Her main research topics are 'oil economies' and energy issues, from a triple perspective; Political Economy, geo-energy and historical-systemic. Her most recent publications are the book El gran negocio mundial de la energía (Great world Oil Business) published in 2016 by RBA editores, Barcelona; the report (co-authored with l. Thieux and M.H. de Larramendi) for the Fundación Alternativas/Ministry of Defence entitled Argelia en la encrucijada (Algeria at the crossroads). Conditioning factors, trends and scenarios; and the scientific articles The Success of the Anglo-Maikop Corporation Within the Fiasco of the Maikop 'Oil Rush" in the Journal of Industrial History (67, 2017) and the entitled Energy interdependence: the linkage of the political economy of Algeria's natural gas with that of the Western Mediterranean region. A methodological approach in the Journal UNISCI (48, 2018) co-authored with R. Albinyana.
On the other hand, he has collaborated with Casa Asia, where he created and directed the Central Asia Observatory, and is currently a member of the energy and climate change group of the Real Instituto de Estudios Internacionales el Real Instituto el Elcano and a member of the Grupo de Estudio de las Sociedades Árabes y Musulmanas Contemporáneas (GRESAM, UCLM)
