Marius Costache is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Condensed Matter Physics of the University of Barcelona (UB), Spain. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, in 2007 working on the spin pumping effect in the group of Prof. B.J. van Wees. After completion of his Ph.D., he moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. J.S. Moodera. Before he joined the UB he worked at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), Spain, first as Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow and later on as Ramón y Cajal researcher. His current research interest focuses on the electrical (spin) transport properties, including spin torque, spin pumping and spin-orbital effects in van der Waals 2D materials and on the coupling between magnon-phonon-photon. He has published about 40 articles including 3 in Science or Nature, in Phys. Rev. Lett and others in NPG journals.
