I have a degree in Physical Sciences (1993) and a PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona (1997). My doctoral dissertation focused on the theoretical modeling of electron transport at semiconductor interfaces, and earned an Extraordinary Doctoral Award (1997). Subsequently, for three years, I was a postdoctoral researcher at three universities in Italy, France and Spain, where I specialized in the theoretical modeling of electronic devices at the nanoscale. In 2001 I moved to the Department of Electronics of the University of Barcelona thanks to a Ramón y Cajal contract, where I expanded my research areas towards the fusion of the fields of Biology and Electronics, focusing in microsystems for biological applications on a chip and in Atomic Force Microscopy for the study of the electrical properties of biological samples. In 2005 I became an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics at the University of Barcelona, and in 2017 I was promoted to Full Professor. In addition, since 2007 I have been head of the Nanoscale Bioelectric Characterization research group at the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), recognized in 2015 and 2020 as Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence. In 2008 I received a grant to intensify the research activity of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2009-2011) and in 2014 the ICREA Foundation awarded me the ICREA Academy Award (2015-2019). From 2001 to the present I have combined research activities with teaching at the University of Barcelona in undergraduate / degree and Master / doctoral courses (mainly in the Degree in Biomedical Engineering, and in the Masters of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Master of Biomedical Engineering). I have directed 10 Doctoral theses and 10 Master's theses. I have published a total of 95 research articles in indexed journals that have received a total of over 2500 citations. I have been Principal Investigator in 5 research projects of the European Commission (in 1 of them as coordinator) and in 6 national research projects (in 1 of them as coordinator) and I have been a member of Groups of Consolidated Research since 2005- info
