Xavier Pons Rafols
Professor of Public International Law at the University of Barcelona. He has participated in several research projects and is currently main researcher of a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. He has acted as international legal consultant of FAO and has published articles and papers in specialized law journals on Public International Law and International Organizations, particularly about the United Nations and the European Union. Among his recent publications can underline Legal and practical implications of the new European regulations to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (FAO, Rome 2010), How to Make Criminal Accountability of UN Officials and Experts on Mission More Effective ? (ICIP, Barcelona 2011), and with other authors La acción exterior y europea de la Generalitat de Cataluña (ed. Marcial Pons, Madrid 2012): He also edited the collective works Salud Pública Mundial y Derecho Internacional (Global Health and International Law) (published by Marcial Pons editions, Madrid 2010), and Alimentación y Derecho Internacional. Normas, instituciones y procesos (Food and International Law. Norms, institutions and processes (published by Marcial Pons editions, Madrid 2013). His latest book is Catluña: derecho a decidir y Derecho Internacional (ed. Reus, Madrid 2015). At the University of Barcelona he has been Vicepresident (2001-2002) and President of the Law, Economics and Social Division (2002-2003) and Secretary General (2005-2008).
